Hey, I’m resc / rescdsk / resc1440 / Thomas Grenfell Smith, a software developer in Indianapolis. I work at the National Center for Biotechnology Information on genetic sequence submissions.

The name comes from ancient Debian Linux history - second file from the bottom here. I was running Debian Sid/unstable as a high schooler, and I got a lot of practice in recovering installations that were impressively broken every few weeks. I guess I wanted the floppy disk image that saved me so many times to be my avatar.
